A long-standing technology partnership
UK Servers has worked with Corero for several years to protect our network and customer services against distributed denial-of-service attacks.
DDoS attacks attempt to overwhelm a server, application or network with malicious traffic, making it slow or unavailable to genuine users. For organisations operating important websites, ecommerce platforms, cloud applications and other online services, effective mitigation is an essential part of maintaining availability.
As our network has grown, we have worked with Corero to upgrade from its established NTD1100 appliances to the next-generation NTD3400 platform.
UK Servers became the first organisation in Europe, the Middle East and Africa to adopt Corero’s adaptive NTD3400 solution and the first in the region to validate live production traffic through the platform.
DDoS protection from UK Servers
Our partnership with Corero allows us to offer several levels of DDoS mitigation, depending on each customer’s availability and support requirements.
On-Demand DDoS Protection
On-Demand DDoS Protection is included with UK Servers dedicated servers and IP connectivity services.
Traffic is monitored for signs of an attack. When malicious activity is detected, affected traffic can be redirected through our mitigation platform, where attack traffic is filtered before clean traffic is passed to the customer.
Always-On DDoS Protection
Always-On Protection continuously processes customer traffic through our mitigation platform, allowing attacks to be identified and filtered immediately.
It is particularly suited to ecommerce, SaaS, gaming and other customer-facing services where even a brief interruption could have a significant impact.
Always-On Pro
Always-On Pro is our enhanced managed option for organisations with more demanding or business-critical requirements.
It combines continuous protection with proactive monitoring, attack analysis and additional assistance from our DDoS mitigation team.
Protection delivered within our network
Our DDoS mitigation technology is deployed within the UK Servers network. Protection can be provided alongside a customer’s dedicated server, colocation or connectivity service, without requiring a separate physical connection or a complicated arrangement involving several providers.
This allows the same UK-based engineering teams to support the customer’s hosting, connectivity and DDoS protection as part of one overall service.
Filtering attacks at network level helps protect the individual customer while reducing the risk of malicious traffic affecting other services across the wider hosting platform.
Supporting our 400G network investment
The Corero NTD3400 deployment forms part of a wider programme of investment across the UK Servers network.
We have been deploying 400G-capable Juniper MX304 routers at key points across our infrastructure and developing support for 400G connectivity to the London Internet Exchange, LINX.
The Corero platform fits directly into this roadmap, providing the capacity needed to protect faster customer connections and respond to increasingly large and complex attacks.
