The Challenge

As a SaaS provider, uptime and accessibility are critical to Motasoft’s customers, who rely on VGM to manage their businesses every day. Motasoft needed a hosting platform that could deliver high availability, resiliency, and redundancy across multiple datacentre locations. Their primary requirement was a solution that would provide seamless access for users, regardless of time or location, with the confidence that service interruptions would be minimised even in the event of a datacentre outage. “Our customers need to access VGM anytime, anywhere. Reliability and uptime are absolutely critical,” says Andrew Burgress, Director at Motasoft Ltd.

The Solution

Following an in-depth consultation, UK Servers designed and deployed a multi-site private cloud solution based on Proxmox VE, spanning multiple datacentres connected via diverse dark fibre. The Proxmox platform provides a distributed virtualisation environment, combining hypervisors with a highly available storage backend, giving Motasoft the flexibility to run and scale their SaaS platform securely. By removing the reliance on traditional SAN devices, the solution delivers both cost efficiencies and performance gains.

One of the key requirements was near-seamless failover capability between sites. UK Servers achieved this by deploying Proxmox hypervisors behind clustered Juniper SRX 10Gb/s firewalls at each datacentre, ensuring that workloads can failover transparently in the event of an incident.

Security & Scalability

Motasoft’s private cloud runs on dedicated firewalls, hypervisors, and switching infrastructure, giving them complete control and isolation from other customers. The solution is deployed across two Telehouse London datacentres, including Telehouse North 2, one of Europe’s most advanced facilities.

The platform is also highly scalable. Motasoft can spin up additional virtual machines as their customer base grows, or reallocate resources to where demand is highest, without disruption.
