Continuity House – Our new Coventry Data Centre

UK Servers are pleased to announce the opening of Continuity House in Coventry. Construction of the 20,000 sqft site was completed in December 2022 with the site having been built from the ground up to Tier III/Tier IV design standards to ensure ultra-high availability of power, cooling and network services to clients.   The full specification of the site is as follows:

  • 20,000 sqft site with Initial Provision of 300 Racks with expansion available to 600 onsite
  • 2N+1 Redundant UPS Systems
  • 3MW Onsite Power from diverse 11kv electrical supply
  • 4MW 2N+1 Diesel Generator Backup Power
  • Latest Energy Efficient Closed Circuit Cooling (No Outside Air bought into Building)
  • IG55 Gas Fire Suppresion
  • VESDA Very Early Smoke Detection System
  • 24/7/365 Onsite Staffing
  • All areas of datacentre access controlled by Paxton system with anti tailgating airlock pod facility access
  • Secure Parking Area
  • Full site CCTV coverage with roaming security patrols
  • Multiple onsite carriers, 1Gb/10Gb and 100Gb ports available for IP connectivity, BGP transit and MPLS cross connect services available

The site is served by 3.3MW diverse 11kV electrical supplies and is backed by 4MW (2N+1) of diesel generators for off-grid backup power. Racks at the site benefit from 2N+1 power provision with STS backed distribution boards giving power redundancy even for single corded equipment.

Racks within Continuity House benefit from 100% network and power uptime with access to multiple onsite carriers, up to 100Gb/s ports for IP connectivity, BGP transit and MPLS cross-connect services. This will include ½, ¼ and ⅛ racks with the same ultra high availability of power and connectivity.  All of our existing and new clients will benefit from a state-of-the-art energy efficient chilled water based cooling system which operates as a closed circuit ensuring no outside air is bought into the server environment whilst also working to ensure the site delivers a low PuE (Power Usage Efficiency) ratio.

The site is secured with 24/7/365 onsite staff, CCTV and roaming security patrols. All areas of Continuity House are access controlled by Paxton system secure entry systems with an anti-tailgating airlock pod for facility access.  Both VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) and IG55 Gas Fire Suppression work in tandem to ensure early detection and extinguishant.

DDoS Protection now provided as Standard with all Servers

RioreyUK Servers are pleased to announce that with immediate effect all customers with dedicated, co-location and IP transit services will have their services protected by our in house DDoS filtering and scrubbing centre with upto 100Gb/s DDoS protection included to all customers at no additional charge.

Our monitoring and detection system uses complex algorithms to analyse traffic and route it through our filtering devices in the event of a large service affecting DDoS attack.
We have invested heavily in Riorey’s RG series protection devices which are known within the industry to be the most powerful DDoS Protection engine in the world filtering upto 72 million packets per second.

Over the last six months we have been integrating these devices within our UK network and are now able to offer all customers the protection from large denial of service attacks without having to route any traffic through third party DDoS protection.

Ben Yarwood, Network Engineer at UK Servers said:

“Over the last 12 months we have seen an increasing rise in the size and number of attacks against customers services, our new in house automated detection and filtering system means we can now filter DDoS traffic in house resulting in no increase in latency during attacks. We recently filtered an attack of 70Gb/s against a large retail site and the customers technical team they were completely unaware they were even under attack!”

With our new protection system customers can opt to have traffic permanently routed through our DDoS scrubbing centre allowing for “inline” protection if required, detailed attack statistics including the type of attack, country of origin(s) and scale are available as well as the option to customise the level of protection.

UK Servers Network Expansion

Over the last few months we have been working away at improving capacity and redundancy in a number of areas of our network to ensure we continue to provide the lowest latency highest possible bandwidth services to our customers.

Since June of this year we have deployed an additional five Juniper MX series routers across our core POP sites bringing online over 2.4 TB/s of additional capacity.

We have also increased the number of core sites we operate from within the London Docklands and now have a prescence within Digital Reality Soverign House, Equinix Harbour Exchange Telehouse East, North 2 and West. We are able to offer dedicated servers, IP transit and MPLS cross connect circuits at any of these sites.

Additionally we have bought in an additional 150Gb/s of external IP transit suppliers and ontop of this now have direct private peering agreements with all the main UK ISPs (Virgin, BT, TalkTalk, BSKYB and Vodafone).

The extensive investment we have carried out over the last few months now sees us as having the highest external bandwidth capacity network of any privately owned UK dedicated server provider and will ensure we can continue to offer customers stable services over the years to come.

Launch of UK’s Lowest Priced 10Gb/s Un-Metered Bandwidth Servers

We have today launched a new range of 10Gb/s Un-Metered bandwidth dedicated server services hosted from the London Docklands. Following from recent network expansions our 10Gb/s un-metered servers represent the best value high bandwidth dedicated servers in the UK.

UK Servers Join The London Access Point (LONAP)

UK Dedicated Servers Limited have joined LONAP (https://www.lonap.net/) adding to our exsisting connectivity of LINX, NTT & Level3.

The London Access Point (LONAP) was first established in 1997 as a not-for-profit Internet Exchange Point (IXP) for London. Today, their list of active members includes global brands, London businesses and FTSE100 companies, all of which are joint stakeholders in the organisation. Each of the LONAP datacenters house a core network of Arista switches, providing 10Gb/s and 100Gb/s member facing ports.

LONAP delivers increased convenience and efficiency, including the benefits of a faster, smoother internet experience for end-users who are streaming video, browsing websites or using VoIP services. UK Servers customers can reduce the route of a data packet by several thousand miles and up to a dozen routers, which saves transit and download time.

UK Servers Partners with Veeam Backup and Replication

UK Servers are now able to offer Veeam Backup and Replication services as an authorised provider under Veeam’s ProPartner Program.

Veeam software was founded in 2006 and develops backup, disaster recovery and virtualisation management software for both VMWare and Hyper-V environments.

Veeam provides UK Servers with enterprise licencing and support for their Veeam Backup & Replication software providing fast, flexible backup and replication of virtual machines. Veeam offers UK Servers the ability to provide continuous replication of virtual machines to hot spare servers allowing UK Servers to deliver availability for the Always-On Enterprise™, meeting SLAs for recovery time and point objectives (RTPO™) of less than 15 minutes for ALL applications and data.

UK Servers has already rolled out Veeam backup and replication services to fifty existing customers including Media Links Online Limited, a leading digital provider for the motorcycle industry with national manufacturer dealership contracts. Mark Hodgetts of Media Links Online comments “Providing services to some of the UK’s largest motorcycle dealerships we require a robust backup strategy of all our customers data. Launch of Ultra Low Latency Servers

LINX-History-FullWe are now able to offer ultra low latency servers hosted in the London Docklands. These servers are hosted within Telehouse building within the London Docklands the the primary home of the London Internet Exchange since 1994. Our “Ultra” range of servers all feature high speed solid state drives, DDR4 memory and are provided on gigabit or ten gigabit ports.
We are able to provide same day setup on most configurations at this site and the ultra low latency network at this site are ideal for streaming, trading platforms and other applications where network latency is of vital importance.   Telehouse is also ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 27001:2005 accredited datacentre meaning it is a great location for customers wanting secure PCI DSS hosting.
